I love the idea of “book vignettes”! I’d call them a variation of an altar. Our condo overlooks the Ohio River, and now I know what to call the book of river poems and another of river essays are that stacked on an end table.

Yes! Definitely a variation of an altar! Love that observation. A dwelling overlooking a river would be wonderful.

Rivers are alive, always moving. I could sit and watch a river ramble (or rumble) by all day. I'd love to see your stack of river poems and essays. I have a "sort of" river essay, entitled "The Labyrinth," in North Dakota Quarterly, which is, unfortunately a print publication, so not available online.

Rivers, altars, labyrinths. We shave so much in common. We must meet in person someday!

My mother read nothing but romance novels and arranged the books by color….all pastels. I couldn’t look at it without laughing.

I would have loved to have seen that, Karol!

That is wonderful advice. I am researching my book, a novel, so writing takes a back seat but I decided to at least do a few minutes on the process each morning. Best to you, Heidi I will look forward reading your book someday soon. ❤️🥰

Research is wonderful! That's part of it, for sure. On my real busy and/or tired days, sometimes my five minutes come from reading about process!
